On this particular job I had roto hammer duty. There wasn't a lot of concrete to drill through, but for some reason the drill kept getting stuck. The only way to get a stuck roto hammer drill out of the ground is to yank on it. Then you yank on it some more. After repeating this over and over, the drill will finally break free of the hole it is stuck in.
Normally I don't get anything more than a few sore muscles from doing this sort of work, but for some reason the fingers on my right hand blistered up quite a bit. These were pretty deep ones and a bit on the painful side, too. A pair of tactical gloves from LApolicegear.com would have been nice to have since they would have shielded my skin from friction while still giving me the manual dexterity needed for the job.
I may have to invest in a pair of these gloves for that reason. Even a minor injury such as those blisters can degrade one's performance, and on days where we have several termite jobs to do, this sort of thing can cost us a lot of money (termite work is very high value). Not to mention the fact that having hands covered in raw blisters just isn't any fun at all.
