Inbound Roomba and A Good Week in Forex

Early last week I blogged about my decision to go ahead and get a robot to do some of my chores. Like I said, vacuuming my place is a good idea, but it's a waste of my time since machines exist that can do it for me. In keeping with my preferred method of financing new purchases - drumming up enough interest income from Forex to pay new stuff off with - I held off until I could deposit enough fresh cash into my Forex account to do this. I mentioned it might take only a week or so. How right I was.

I already knew that I would be collecting several hundred dollars of overtime pay on my most recent paycheck, so I was already pretty close to the $363 I would need to deposit to my Forex account for this purchase. What I didn't know about was commissions I've also earned at work were to be included in this pay cycle. Between the two, after taxes, I was only a few dollars short of the goal.

But then in the week following that post, the Dollar started falling again against the new Turk Lira, which led to another source of cash I could put toward this plan: capital gains. I keep two Forex accounts currently, my "primary" account (permanent) and my Discover Bank funded account, otherwise simply known as my "Forex Project" (temporary). Capital gains in my primary account become part of the permanent capital of the account, the funds I never mess with, and I did not include them in the total I've been saving up toward the Roomba funding. The Forex Project account, however, exists solely to provide fresh capital to my primary account, so capital gains and interest from here did factor into the total.

By Friday evening when the Forex market was closed, my paycheck was in the bank, all capital gains and interest from the Forex Project account were transferred to my primary account, and I was finally done with work for the week, I found that I had come up with nearly $500 of fresh permanent capital. Not only have I come up with enough cash to meet the minimum payment obligation for the Roomba purchase, but I've also secured additional passive interest income that will help to pay it off faster (and this doesn't include the capital gains earned in my primary account, which as I said earlier I do not include in projects such as this since capital in that account is strictly "hands off", so the monthly passive income total is in fact even higher).

So now the order has been placed and my Roomba should arrive sometime this week. Fewer chores for me!
