Friction, stretching, solar degradation... normal clothes fall apart.
Then there's also the issue of stuff. I've got syringes full of gel baits, pens, rodent poisons, gloves, tins of rifle pellets, all sorts of stuff. I have to carry all of it with me on most jobs and a typical pair of jeans does not have enough pockets.
I'm thinking that I might invest in several pairs of 5.11 pants, otherwise known as "tactical pants." These are pants worn by security, police, and military forces that are reinforced to withstand wear and tear that normal clothes could not, and they have lots of what I need - pockets. I could conceivably load these things up with everything I might need during an average day at work, and whether I use the equipment and chemicals I'm carrying or not, I'll be ready for anything (preparedness means time isn't wasted, and time is money).
