Since I started writing about my Forex experiences, and in particular my home grown method for trading in Forex, I've had a few people write to me to thank me for sharing my method. It's making people some money, apparently.
Recently, one of those online acquaintances said that had he thought up my method, he would have figured out a way to package and sell it.
It got me to thinking about the idea. I'm not actually thinking of doing this, it just prompted some thought. As to the method itself, there just isn't a lot to it, not even enough to fill one page. What kind of price do you charge for something like that? Some might say hundreds or more since the method could lead to much larger returns for someone than a high asking price. I can see the sense in that. It seems that most Forex methods for sale out there follow this logic (whether they work or not is another matter). I guess it would be a matter of convincing someone else that it makes sense, too. I feel a certain aversion to making that effort though. Maybe it's because I can just use my ideas and make my own money. It's definitely a lot easier to just do that.
The other thing that kills the idea for me is something quite different. I feel like I'd much rather just post what I've been doing for anyone to read so that if people can make something happen with it, they will. Basically, I've always felt that I will be better off if I live in a society where I'm surrounded by financially independent people who got that way through their own efforts. Obviously, if someone uses my ideas and gets rich, it isn't 100% their own effort (close enough though, I think), but my ideas in and of themselves are nothing without funds to fuel them, and that's one thing that I am not giving away; the individual still has to get out there and get his or her own money. Generally, I expect people who invest and build their own fortunes to be immune to socialist/collectivist ideals (not all, of course, as the apparent dirty little secret of the Democrats is that their party elite are often very rich... and they tend to be drawbridgers). This would be a help to me, because the way I see it, right now there is a tremendous tide of collectivism roaring toward us and it's going to take a wall of well-off individuals who understand rational self-interest to stop it; generally, people who are economically independent are of this mindset. I have zero interest in building myself up so that a mob of slackers, idiots, and losers can tear me apart with the help of some opportunistic, would-be slave owner politician. For my own sake, I need more people like me. Lots more.
Yeah, I give away my ideas about this realm of investing, but I don't think that I'm getting nothing for them in exchange. I hope, anyway.
