By now you've no doubt heard Barack Hussein Obama dancing around gleefully chanting "McCain owns seven homes! McCain owns seven homes!" It didn't even take a day for McCain to say that he wasn't sure how many properties he and his wife, Cindy, own before Supreme Soviet Obama cranked up the envy machine.
Or so he tried.
When I heard this bit of news (I use the term loosely), my first thought was, "Seven? That's all?" Honestly, for the McCains, it seems a bit slack, but perhaps they have as many homes as they want, need, can find time to visit, etc. (I've heard that McCain has purchased some of them for various family members to use but I have no verification of that right now).
It is my understanding the Obama and his family own one house.
That got me to thinking: McCain is helping me out! I am benefiting from McCain owning several homes at once!
Why?
Supply and demand.
It's old news now that too many units of housing have been built in the U.S. in recent years, thanks to a whole bunch of irrational exuberance over real estate. Lots of money was handed over to people who didn't really have the means to repay the loans, and as such a lot of houses have unexpectedly come back on the market.
When there's a large supply of something and few buyers, prices decline. Your home value goes down because were you to try and sell it, you would be faced with buyers who have a lot of options.
When the opposite becomes true (which it will again, eventually), sellers rule the roost and buyers have to cater to them.
So here's John and Cindy McCain with seven properties under ownership when they could own just one... or none! That would then mean seven additional properties would be in the pool, depressing prices a little more. But instead the McCains are holding these properties off the market, thereby reducing the glut of unsold homes out there.
Meanwhile, Obama and his family own just one house. JUST ONE.
What does this mean about Barack Hussein Obama and you, the homeowner?
He's a greedy rat bastard, that's what!
Instead of taking some of his and Michelle's approximately $1 million dollar annual income and buying up some of those available properties out there, they're spending it all on themselves! They could be using it to reduce the inventory of unsold homes, which would contribute to reversing the trend of declining home prices (maybe even through some deeply discounted, shady Rezko style deals) but no! Instead, Obama wants you to believe that you should be angry and upset with people who are actually doing something positive.
So the next time you hear Barack Hussein Obama or his Obamabot minions chanting "one home good! seven homes bad!", just remind them that they're lazy, idiotic, home value destroying bastards.
[Disclaimer: I believe people should be allowed to do whatever they want with their legally earned cash, so before you get all cranked up about any perceived anti libertarian ideological hypocrisy on my part and miss the point of this, here it is: if Obama thinks he can moralize people's legal spending choices, then it's fair to do the same thing to him and thereby demonstrate what an utter ass he really is. Thank you.]

You're a nut.
I think Obama's point was that McCain had no idea how many homes he has. Not that he has seven (or twenty or whatever).
Cuz that's just wacky. And I'm not having an issue with Obama pointing out the wacky when he gets accused ten ways from Sunday for being an elitest yadayada.

No, Obama was trying the old envy saw once again. It's disgustingly obvious what he's trying to do here (and it's glorious to see how badly it has backfired on him - Rezko is now fully in play and it's all his fault).
The latest info I've managed to grab on this points to Cindy owning all of the properties, their residences (John and Cindy, I mean) and a portfolio of rental properties.
Anyway, it may seem wacky to people like us that one would not know how many condos, houses, apartments one owns, but when you reach a certain level of wealth, it's not at all uncommon to put these things entirely into the hands of others (that said, I'm not 100% certain of what is in my IRA account because I hold mutual funds, so this maybe isn't such a strange concept to those of us in lower income/wealth strata after all). Rather than holding that up as a red flag like Obama is doing, all of us ought to be trying to get there. People who have inspire me.

Maybe he's using the senile saw. :-D
People who have inspire me.
Really?
8:43 AM
Senile saw? No, that's if John can't remember how many RVs they have. :P
And yes, in terms of material attainment, I look up to people like the McCains and I do my best to learn how they did it and follow the example. I even admire Warren Buffet and George Soros in this regard, even though their politics make me gag.

I do my best to learn how they did it and follow the example - they did nothing just inherited the shit
8:03 PM
While I don't doubt that they've inherited some things, I do doubt that they inherited everything.
And what of it even if they did? Do you know what it takes to maintain an inheritance? It frequently takes more discipline and skill than what is required to build a fortune in the first place.
I may inherit something one day, and I can either spend it down to zero or grow it into something even greater. It's no less of an accomplishment. Again, the McCains are an example to be looked up to.
