Finally! The Commucrats drop their solipsism for a brief moment:

Democrats to let offshore drilling ban expire
This should probably be subtitled, "Bedwetters everywhere vow day of whining in response." Heh.

Anyway, from the article:

WASHINGTON - Democrats have decided to allow a quarter-century ban on drilling for oil off the Atlantic and Pacific coasts to expire next week, conceding defeat in a months-long battle with the White House and Republicans set off by $4 a gallon gasoline prices this summer. [emphasis mine]

I love the smell of Democrat defeat in the morning. It smells like napalm.

However, it seems that wishful thinking abounds in Commie land nonetheless:

"The White House has made it clear they will not accept anything with a drilling moratorium, and Democrats know we cannot afford to shut down the government over this," said Jim Manley, a spokesman for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. "We look forward to working with the next president to hammer out a final resolution of this issue." [emphasis mine]

Wouldn't you know it? They don't think this is over, that by next year we'll all change our minds and be against developing our own natural assets. Oh, wait... no we won't. I fully expect them to try to put everything off limits again though. That is if they haven't lost their jobs by then.
