A week or two ago, a fellow blogger and part-time Forex dabbler who goes by the nom de blog, "Robin Marks," keeper of the blog known as Awesomeosophy, tipped me off about a cord blood bank company whose stock is in some very tricky, very speculative, but potentially very profitable waters (Marks already made around a 70% return with this one - nice!). When he told me about the company, I was already somewhat familiar with what they do because of my past blogging about Cryo-cell.
Between the company that Marks told me about and Cryo-cell, plus the other two listed on Cryo-cell's "compare us" page, that makes four total that I'm aware of. Cryo-cell has been in this business since 1989, which is a lot longer than what I would have guessed to be the age of the industry in total. It has given them time to perfect their craft, it would appear, given that they offer much more competitive pricing than their listed peers, as well as earn important standards certifications given by regulatory agencies. Right now, they're making a special current offer to new clients, a discounted enrollment in their cord and menstrual blood stem cell collection and storage service, which can potentially bring the benefits of stem cell therapy to millions without destroying human embryos.
Stem cells are a hot topic right now following The Obama's signing of an executive order lifting the ban on Federal funding of embryonic stem cell research. Though that particular kind of stem cell science is not what Cyro-Cell and other companies like it engage in, the news still caused a temporary spike in the price of their publicly traded shares (which is how Marks made his money the other day). I think it is an industry that will produce much in terms of financial and medical gains down the road, so I definitely recommend keeping an eye on it.
