It seems that mother nature feels the need this year to continually remind us that winter is cold. Three times now I have been teased with warm days when I could leave my jacket at home, only to be slapped with temperatures well below freezing during the days that followed. The days are growing longer again but the cold persists. I get it! Enough already! I want my balcony and my BBQ back!
To cheer myself up during these months I usually indulge in the pastime of real estate browsing in warmer climates. Today I looked at a few homes in Scottsdale, in Arizona, where a lot of my older clients are right now to escape the cold. Real estate woes around the country are, to the well-positioned, real estate opportunities, and there are many in places with more agreeable winter climates. But it is not yet the right time for me, so I'll have to be content with window shopping (for example, these properties, which are not in line with my instinctive frugality, but I think I could learn to love owning one) while I wait for the Northern Hemisphere to tilt back toward the sun instead.
