Recently I came across a free online video game called Battlefield Heroes. I'm always on the lookout for free entertainment because money not spent is money that I can invest instead (and avoiding boredom can be pricey, so the cheaper the better).
This is a first person shooter style game with a team play structure. You create a hero of one of two factions, the Royal Army or the National Army. There are a limited number of battlefields to play on (maybe more in the future?) that the game places you, your teammates, and your opponents into automatically. The controls are a combination of keyboard and mouse inputs, some of which are a bit difficult to get used to (maybe just for me since I don't normally play these sorts of games), but over all the command set is fairly simple so you'll get used to it all quick. During each match you can shoot and blow up your opponents, take command of various vehicles, and capture flags. As you rack up experience you can increase the strength and variety of your hero's abilities.
If you're bored, give Battlefield Heroes a try. I play a National Army soldier named [SOT]badwasabi, so if you see me in there please say hello! (Or just put a bullet in my head, kind of the same thing in-game.)
