A few days ago I wrote about a new bill that has been introduced in the 2010 Washington State Senate session, Senate Bill 6396, yet another trash, anti-firearm, un-American piece of legislation.
Upon learning of the bill, I immediately wrote my two state House reps, my state senator, and the Governor. My Senator, Mike Hewitt, responded with a personally written email about five minutes later:
"Paul,
Thanks for writing in.
We see gun bills every year. They make a lot of noise, but rarely do they advance through the legislative process; this bill doesn't even have a public hearing yet. I wouldn't worry about it too much, but I can sure appreciate your advocacy (I'm an NRA member myself; even signed my name to an NRA amicus brief last year on pending case in another state).
Needless to say, I do not and will not be supporting this bill.
If I can be of any further service, please do contact me.
Regards,
Mike

When I opened the email I said to myself, "wow! Actual representative government!" It was quite refreshing.
The next day, I also heard back from Representative Terry Nealey, who also stated that he is opposed to this bill and will vote against it should it reach the House.
People all over Washington are mobilizing against this terrible bill. This morning I discovered a Facebook group aimed at defeating it, Oppose Bill 6396 "Washington State Assault Weapons Ban".
Hopefully not only will this bill go down in flames, but so to the careers of the four idiots who put it together.

Paul,
The bill is absolute "trash"
Very refreshing response from Senator Hewitt. We've got a very healthy web presence going against this bill. Check out http://www.stopsb6396.com when you have a chance.
See you on the front lines of the battle for our rights!
